Penclawdd Local Produce Market

There is also a craft market that runs alongside the produce market. Refreshments are available at the counter (provided by a different charity every month), and parking is partially on site, but largely on the road to the front of the building.

History: Penclawdd market started after repeated food scares and the devastating effects of foot and mouth, as well as unprecedented pressure from supermarkets. It began in June 2003 with eight stalls and has grown gradually to over 30, with roughly half of those food stalls.
The market was a sustainable development model giving equal emphasis to economic, social and environmental concerns:

  • It creates opportunities for small producers and craftspeople to market their wares directly to the public
  • It reduces unnecessary food miles and packaging
  • It is an event where locals and visitors can meet in a congenial atmosphere

When: Penclawdd market is held every 3rd Saturday of the month, from 9:30am until 12:30 pm.

Where: Penclawdd Community Centre.

How to get there:
From Gowerton head into Penclawdd and follow the signs to the market, it is also signposted to Blue Anchor. The Community Centre is on your left hand side, halfway up the hill.
