Knab Rock

Knab Rock is a brand new Restaurant with Rooms in
Mumbles. With unspoilt views of the whole of Swansea
Bay, you can experience the sea by staying in one of
the truly magnificent, individually designed rooms (5*
standard) with some lovely personal touches. That’s
not all, for you can also taste the fl avours of the sea,
prepared by one of the area’s most respected chefs.

Frederick Pallade, originally from northern France,
has certainly brought his Gallic fl air to the menu, while
using the best of Welsh ingredients. Starters such as
Roasted sweet potato gnocchi fi nished with Perlas and
pistachio sauce (£4.95), or Smoked Haddock, Leek and
fi lo tartlette souffl e fi nished with a Cockle, Laverbread
and Chervil Sauce (£5.25) demonstrate this fusion of
experience and inspiration beautifully. Sunday lunch
(£12.95 for 2 courses) offers the traditional Roast Rib
of Welsh Beef, alongside lighter mains such as Cod fi llet
with leek fondue, white wine sauce and Gower mussels,
or Risotto of Saffron, spinach and herb with a parmesan
crisp. Frederick and the team make absolutely
everything from scratch – wonderful smells fl oat from
the kitchen even before you taste your food.

The venue itself is remarkably versatile. With an
outside deck area to the front, you can enjoy afternoon
tea, seafood platters with dressed crabs, oysters, and
lobster for those warm summer days when the bay
waters calmly lap only yards away. French doors open
into the bar area, where you can stop for a strong coffee
or a relaxing chilled glass of Sauvignon.

The motto at Knab Rock is Eat, Drink, Stay, implying
a laid back experience whatever you visit for -
certainly the ambience achieved here – and this new
establishment is certain to have you returning for more.
