Oriental Garden Buffet Restaurant
Situated next to the Waterfront Museum and LC2,
Oriental Garden has brought even more life to the
original marina development.
It is one of the few
restaurants offering views of the yachts in their
moorings, yet only a step away from the city centre.
The concept of Oriental Garden is simplicity
itself: whatever time you go (and unusually for
an independent restaurant, it does have some
exceptionally long opening hours - making it really easy
to just pop in on a whim) you will be greeted at the door
by the friendly hosts. They will serve you drinks from
an extensive wine and soft drinks list, while you peruse
the fresh buffet. Depending on the time of day you go,
you can eat from £5.95 (or just £3.50 for children),
returning for as much as you care to eat. Though
the food is great value, it is also good quality and as
satisfying as you will fi nd in any a la carte equivalent.
The numerous staff busily tend to the buffet, ensuring
plentiful supplies, and that you have any help you may
need.
You are unlikely to become
tired of the same dishes either
– as there is a daily changing
choice of up to 40 dishes (all of
which are labelled). You can try
dishes you might expect such
as Aromatic Duck, West Lake
Beef Soup, and Mushrooms in
Oyster Sauce, or stray slightly
away and try Malaysian and Thai
inf uenced dishes – Chicken
Satay, King Prawn with Tom
Yam sauce, or Thai Green Curry.
This really is the perfect place
to bring the kids (they will
even serve chips for the little
ones), or for a casual night out
with a group of friends or work
colleagues. A gap in the market
for tasty food without the fuss, at
reasonable prices has now been
filled!
