Rossi's Original Restaurant and Takeaway

As one of Swansea's institutions, you would think that it would be hard to improve on the reputation that Rossi's has achieved. However this award winning 48 seat Fish and Chip restaurant has raised the stakes further. Owners Neil and Savita, have added to the repertoire of classic British dishes, with homemade dishes such as Chilli, Jacket Potatoes and Filled Rolls, since they took over the business in late 2005.

Certainly, you will not be dissappointed with the chips and crispy battered fish, since everything is cooked fresh. The pride in this fact is evident if you speak with the staff at Rossi's- nothing sits around on a hotplate. In fact talking to the chef and owners will give you an incredible appetite!

The fish is meaty and 'flakes' away perfectly. The crispy batter is carefully made, so that the fish inside effectively steams itself. What will really take you by surprise though is the unique way that the fish is offered here. Recognising the move to be more health conscious, Rossi's also offers poached Salmon, Cod and Trout . They also offer gluten and wheat free batter, offering rice flour as an alternative. The rice flour gives a light, crisp coating directly onto the fish, and is well worth a try.

Savita, and Neil talk about their business with a great passion: 'We don't serve fast food, we serve fresh food as fast as we can'. This can really be seen in the food that they serve. Together with Richard and Frank (two of the original characters, don't worry you can't miss them!) who oversee all of the action at the fryers - what they don't know about frying fish and chips isn't worth knowing.
